There isn't a 32 bit version of the Artworks applet. I am awaiting seeing 32 bit rendering modules, and a machine to test them on. Problem is that means not only can you not use Artworks on a 32 bit machine you can't use it on a 26 bit one either - running 2.69. Anyway, bearing that in mind Ovation Pro 2.69 is available along with the 26/32 bit applets you'll need. Probably easiest from www.davidpilling.net/news.html. The famous scanning software upgrades you'll also see there appear to require a next slot of around 1MB. That's due to a change in unsqueeze code. And I hope to fix this later today. I guess I'm not going to wait a long time before putting out a 32 bit AW applet. -- David Pilling email: david@pilling.demon.co.uk web: http://www.davidpilling.net post: David Pilling P.O. I'm struggling to get the Windows version finished. The current Win version is identical to the current Acorn version. They can save and load one anothers documents. The look and feel is the same. However there are a lot of twiddly bits to resolve, like PostScript printing on Windows. Another example of Windows inferiority, there's no support for masked image printing to PostScript - this has received it's share of criticism in RISC OS, but something is better than nothing. So logically all my time should be going into finishing the Windows stuff. Once that is done, the temptation will be to start enhancing the Windows version of OP. Perhaps making radical changes to it. A Xara - ArtWorks scenario if you like. In the midst of the current excitement about 32 bit RISC OS, I still feel that software development on RISC OS is not a viable business, and that my future lies elsewhere. -- David Pilling email: david@pilling.demon.co.uk web: http://www.davidpilling.net post: David Pilling P.O. Say you've mixed up the modules between two versions of SparkFS, or perhaps I've supplied you with a version between releases to fix some specific problem. Or a previous patch has failed. Does this mean that any app clipping images and printing to PostScript on Windows has to handle that itself and bypass the Windows printer drivers? Or does it require the Adobe driver with appropriate ppd file for the printer? It is now over 5 years since I used PageMaker 5 on PC and regularly cropped (clipped) images in a newsletter layout. Windows supports an irregular clipping curve in all versions, and that is a step forward on RISC OS. We've talked of this before, it's obvious that in many cases one could best print a masked sprite by using an irregular clip curve. However you can't always, there'll always be a case where this would be inefficient. OP running on RISC OS outputs PS direct to do irregular clipping, so that's no problem. -- David Pilling email: david@pilling.demon.co.uk web: http://www.davidpilling.net post: David Pilling P.O. I've also just upgraded to 2.69 and have gone through the list of Applets that I normally load. The ones that currently give the 'ENOE' error are: Impulse 1.02 - Probably due to the ImpulseII module OArtWrks 1.07 - I'm assuming that when the 32bit AWRender is released this will be ok Ovation1 1.03 - Again probably due to the Ovation module inside the applet. I can't shift drag text from Zap into OP 2.69. Attmpting to do so brings up an error task window saying 'Error: can't open input file'. The title bar of the window is an OP scrap file pathname. Clicking the mouse then brings up an error window from ARCFAX saying 'File could not be converted'. The same applies to drag 'n dropping text from any other application - but not between OP windows. Reverting to 2.67 is fine. I'm using Select 2i3 Any ideas? Especially why the error comes from ArcFax which isn't even loaded, although it has been seen by the filer. Silly question guys, but given that David said the 2.68 --> 2.69 transition was just for 32 bit status and IIRC tested on Iyonix why change the install for something on a Select boosted RPC?[1] Drag of text (shift or no) from the version of Zap on Iyonix (1.46 20 Nov 2002 [TEST]) to OvPro 2.69 works - on Iyonix. Strangely enough I haven't updated the copy on the RPC, just the test copy on the Iyonix. There is definitely something not compatible here and it may be tied in with !TransDDF. I have all the !Transxxx apps in Boot:Resources, so the same one is used whichever version of OP is used. I think I may have altered a line in !TransDDF.!Boot to allow text dragging or something in the past. I can't remember. Anyway, it reads IconSprites .!Sprites Set TransDDF$Dir Set FFGServer$TransDDF -T &707 &B25 -R TransDDF$Dir Set FFGServer$TransDDFa -T &FFF &B25 -R TransDDF$Dir Set File$Type_707 DDF Set File$Type_B25 OvPDDL That dragged fine into Pluto btw via Zap, but OP won't accept it as it's from an Obey file. If I change the filetype to text, it gives the error I mentioned. Text files dragged from the filer window into OP are fine. Text dragged by selecting in another application and shift dragging give an error about not being able to open the input file. Something to do with OLE? Scrap directories? Needless to say, quitting OP 2.69 and booting up 2.67 works with no problems at all. I had a go at extracting the text from a DDL file and it was a lot easier than it first looked - at least, for what I wanted. I haven't got round yet to eliminating text in headers/footers - other than by (the slightly dangerous) discarding specific text strings. Tabbing and new paras worked out pretty well. Bearing in mind that the output took only 12 seconds for 235 pages (even using Basic and a Wimp front end) then I am quite content to do a small amount of final tidying in a text editor. This is a big improvement on the 30 minutes by the PostScript/RiScript route, although this latter does give a very good output format-wise.
