I can't think of any changes I've made to the system recently and I don't use StrongEd (which does apparently grap some key presses). Any ideas about what could be causing it? If I create the frame and alter it's size to more than 913.69 mm OvP gives a "frame height too big" error. If I take the first example drag created as 20 x 1600mm then try to change the fill colour the same error appears. Are you using any of the third party Clipboard apps that are around. I remember when I was Alpha testing ClipMan (MadCow software), there were some occasions when it threw a wobbly, and the Global clipboard itself when used by particular apps, became very unreliable... would do a Ctrl-C but not a Ctrl-V. Sorry no > obvious solution. > Cheers Dave S It is definitely the ROL Clipboard module causing the problem - removing it cures it, but I lose the clipboard on Draw etc. It is only Ovation Pro that is affected. The Select oversion of Clipboard won't work as it installs in memory areas used by other apps, but there must be a fixed version between 0.05 and 0.08. Otherwise I wouldn't be the only one to notice the problem. My version of the Clipboard module is 0.05 (23 Mar 2000) - is there a later version than this which may have solved the above problem? Has anyone else got the enhanced Draw, Edit etc with the clipboard enabled? Does Ctl-V work OK in OP with it? I must admit I didn't think to suspect apps and modules produced by RISCOS Ltd, but it does seem the likely cause. Perhaps if there is a later version of Clipboard someone could let me try it? The ClipboardHolder module with Select beta 4.24 is version 0.08. I've done a series of Cut/Copy and Pastes between all the above Five apps, Ctrl-X or C and Ctrl-V wherever possible, otherwise the comparable menu options. I have been unable to prevent Ovation Pro, or any of the others for that matter from doing the required Cut or Copy Or paste. I also added a few other apps for fun... Publisher and Pluto. Sorry no obvious solution. I have been reading chapter 17 of the Manual supplied on the OvationPro CD. First I opened the list of key macros by using Menu> Misc> Macros and clicking on Key. Then I clicked New, and CTRL-SHIFT-3, which was my intended keypress, then clicked Record and opened a new document window. I selected Baskerville regular as the font, then ALT-136, so that a Euro symbol appeared in the new document. Then I selected Trinity Medium and switched Record off. When I went back to the Macro list I found that |!|H had been recorded in the definition space. I then saved it. This does not work. In any case I need surely to start with a command which records the handle of whatever the current typeface is (in my default document), so that the final command can be to restore the default typeface. I have clearly not succeeded in understanding the Record function. Can you put me right? My immediate thought is to use the single shift font key press. Which is F10 followed by another key press for the character you want from the shift font. In fact the macro record feature would probably record that for you. All you'd then need is to have a single shift font set which contains the euro symbol. It is possible to make macros change to arbitrary fonts - see the examples provided in the default set. The Euro symbol in the EFF fonts has ASCII 136 or 136, but in the ROM fonts (Trinity, Homerton and Corpus) it can be found at ASCII 128 (font specific) and at ASCII 164 as a symbol and in Sidney at 240, also as a symbol. If you have converted Type1's (with Euro), it depends on the font, where you can find the Euro and what version (font specific or a symbol), most times also at 0128 or 0164. Having re-set the default font to Baskerville 1 (an EFF font I purchased in the last 2 years) I can now easily produce the Euro symbol by typing ALT-136, as that is the position of the Euro symbol in recent EFF fonts. It is of course used by Ovation Pro, Ovation, CrossStar, Spell and WordSquare. I produced a module version of Spell for Andrew Rawnsley (RComp), and this is what WebSpell and (I think) Messenger use. The module is akin to the Acorn colour picker, ideal for programs which want to add spell checking. So yes other programs can use !Words, just use the Spell module. The snag is that I wrote that for RComp, so it only comes with their programs. RComp have made the interface details public. However a free for all would depend on RComp making the module freely available. (and Pluto would a beneficiary hmm). It printed perfectly, ie no nastly grey lines all over the page, on my Kyocera FS1750. I might be losing the thread, but presumeably the first step was to print exactly the same document, in the same way, twice. Once with screening on and once with it off. If you do that and capture the PS files output you should be able to see that the screening commands are the only difference. And such virus programs only affect Windows PC's and usually only those running MS Outlook Express. In fact the original message is written in a certain style... Looking at the list bounces, quite a lot of systems rejected the posting due to the way the header was badly formatted. My experience of spell checking using Zap as an editor is that from Zap I sometimes get problems whereas spell checking from the Messenger dialogue box always works. The file I was sent was PS output generated from a letter by Anthony Hilton. It, at least, contained the "setscreen" literal text, but I was unsure if that was a command or part of a definition. When I printed the file, by issuing *copy thefile printer: on my Kyocera FS1750 the pages didn't have the feint grey stripes. AH sent me the file because he said it disproved my assertion that presence of the "setscreen" command caused those stripes. I'm somewhat baffled. I have another example (JN's posting with quotes - should be OK here!) which is printed from OPro in exactly the same way if it is any help to anyone. Jeremy, have you printed to a file using your driver/pdf combination and looked to see how it differs from mine? The line above the one containing the setscreen literal is 255 G CP fill I wonder if this is a page background fill and is different on your setup? Maybe it comes down to screening makes a difference, given certain other parameters for the document. e.g. white is not defined as 100% RGB in the document with the shading. So it looks like it's screening + that is the problem. I gather the shading takes place on the page background, so problem documents must be quite simple, making finding factor X relatively easy. But sometimes i needed to look to the original picture so i removed the proxy pictures. That can be done easily by remove all proxies. But when you want to change back to proxy pictures i had to do all the photos manually. Is there a smarter way, or could there be a proxy all pictures button of some kind? It might be a nice improvement anyway to have a big text file that mapped missing fonts on loading. So if you had a missing font you could set up a substitute.
