For 10 tickets to a page, in 2 columns of 5, you need height 59.4mm, width 105mm. Header & footer 0mm, all margins 12.5mm (my printer does print properly with 12mm of the bottom of the page, you can make the margins smaller if your printer goes closer to the edge). Click OK. 2 Save the blank document at this stage; people are going to ask you to do tickets again one day ... 3 Go to the master page (Page -> Edit master pages on the main menu) 4 Create the ticket and stub in the master frame, making more frames as necessary for pictures etc. Do all your designing *on the master page*. 5 Create a frame where you want the number on the ticket. Click inside it (to put the caret there), then insert the page number *using the menu* (Misc -> Insert -> Page number. 6 Copy this frame. Paste it on the ticket stub. Rotate it if you want! 7 Kill the master page window. You now have a document page with your ticket *including the same number on both the ticket and the stub*. Save the document with a different name at this stage. 8 Insert 9 more pages (so that you have 10 in all) - easiest done by clicking on the New Page button (green plus sign) on the button bar. You may have to click inside the main frame first. In fact, to make 100 tickets, it's easier to work with 20 pages at a time - for 500, maybe 50? (Someone should be able to write a script to insert this many pages at one go - or does an applet exist which already does this?) 9 Click on the Print button, and in the dialog box select Thumbnails -> Paper area (2x5) from the Format menu. You do need to have the Imposit applet loaded for this to be available. (If you have chosen a different ticket page size it will not say (2x5), but it will have worked out how many tickets it can fit into an A4 page). Click on Print. 10 When the page has gone to the printer, change the number of the *first* page in the chapter to that of the next ticket that will need to be printed (ie if you have just printed pages=tickets 1 to 10, change the number of the first page to 11). It's Page -> Modify chapter on the main menu; type in the number in the dialog box and click OK. Repeat stages 9 and 10 until you have all your tickets. Now, here's where I ran in to problems. Clicking on the New Page button and going into Misc -> Insert -> page only resulted in the addition of one page at a time, regardless of how many I requested. In other words, I had to carry out the procedure 9 times to get 10 pages. To do it 40 times to get 500 tickets terrifies me :-) Any ideas? Am i right in thinking this should work a bit like web pages? If I drag a picture into the reference dialogue box it puts in the path but the picture doesn't seem to update in the OP document if I update the file. (Yes I am reloading the OP document). Also I cannot get to the reference dialogue without first dragging a picture into a frame. Is there a way of importing the picture to make it referenced immediately? (I've tried Ctrl-drag and Alt-drag) (Hmm I've since discovered that Ctrl-drag will keep the image 100% in size) I've just this seconds checked and found the file size choices for pictures. Is this why I wonder? .... OK right so I can get referencing to work if I set the file size low enough to catch the files I'm using. Hmmm but what if I want to refence a picture anyway? Is it to do with the Image cache size? I've tried quitting OP, changing what I think is the referenced file and then reloading the document into a reloaded OP but no joy? Should a referecned picture path show up in the reference dialogue if the relevant frame is selected? It does for the ones greater in filesize than the set limit in choices but anything smaller and I cannot reference it. Sorry if this has been covered. OK I can get this working now using Ctrl-Shift-drag (Why didn't I try that?). I still can't get it working by simply using the "Picture reference" dialogue box though. Its odd to have a dialogue box ("Picture import") that you cannot get except via that Ctrl-Shift-drag operation. I think that would come down to having a master page with text frames on, all formed into an autolink chain. Then just pour in text. Not quite as neat as using page numbers and thumbnails. Slightly easier to control the page layout. David Pilling -- email: david@pilling.demon.co.uk web: http://www.netlink.co.uk/users/pilling web: http://www.pilling.demon.co.uk post: David Pilling, P.O. Since yours truly is guilty of producing all the OvPro scripts he asked me if I could fathom the method. However, while I can see that the postcode sequencing is done from and ASDF combination plus a start and stop identifier (barcode A and barcode F respectively) Chris also needs two things: 1. The checksum calculation method (he's working in Basic BTW) 2. The origin of the "delivery point" code. The barcode applet text says it has no direct correspondence to the house number, however is does not say what it *does* correspond to. I'm pretty sure that if we can get the wrinkles out of this then Organizer *will* do OvP address labels including the PO barcode. Barcode A+postcode translation into four letter combo+standard dp (1A)+checksum+barcode F Just the checksum to sort out with Chris. It's entirely possible that I just got the logic inverted when I knocked together the half-section edits to the booklet script. At line 96 or so of my copy of !Imposit.Library.Booklet, it says something like: four=(prbooklet_halfsections) ? 0 :(paper<-4 && paper>0); If you backup the file somewhere safe and then change this to: four=(!prbooklet_halfsections) ? 0 :(paper<-4 && paper>0); // invert logic and re-run OPro, does it work in the way you'd expect? I was trying to print a 4 page booklet. The original pages are A4 and I wanted them all printed on a single A4 sheet. When printed on both sides of paper and cut into two it should produce a 4-page A6 booklet (A5 folded). I tried the 'Booklet' print option and chose the 'Use half section' option and a scale of 50%. What came out was one sheet with two pages side by side at the top of the paper and a second sheet with two pages one above the other at the left hand side of the paper. I experimented (using SPrinter to save paper) and discovered that the expected result happens with the (Use half sections' unticked. (I also read the instructions fully and opted just to print the front of the sheet.) Am I doing something wrong or are the instructions wrong? As soon as I have the results, further info follows (a week to 10 days). Meanwhile I do suggest you use the PO barcode as it definitely does seem to speed up expedition. I presume that this is because computer-reading of the barcode is faster than OCRing (=optical character reading) of the address in standard Latin letters. It has to be a double sided chapter - select the double sided button in page guidelines. The left and right writeable icons refer to the margins on *one* page. By using the radio buttons below marked left and right you control if the dimensions you're entering are for the left page, the right page or if'mirror' is selected for both pages. To put it another way in a double sided chapter there are left hand and right hand pages, and a left hand page has left and right margins (and so does the right hand page). >I then added a chapter by copying it from another document and wanting >that to follow the previous chapter but the Modify chapter 'Base on >chapter' number is greyed out how do I get that to work? In general I think it looks good. My only gripe is the width. It uses a fixed width which is wider than the default size I have my browser set to. This means I have to keep scrolling horizontally to read the text that has fallen off the end. As Chris Manning has pointed out to me, the last clause of that line will always evaluate to 0, since paper can never be less than -4 *and* greater than 0 at the same time. I tend to agree with the comments Tony made with two exceptions. I understand the problems with fixed width sites but really think it makes it so much stronger design wise. IME the very small number of people inconvenienced by fixed width is hugely outwayed by the design benefits - I challenge anyone to produce a site that pleases everyone! Also I would not have internal links opening new windows on a site this size. The pages are very fast loading, even on a 56k, and (again IME) this tends to confuse more people than it helps. The only place where links should open in a new window is the links page to external sites. Nav Bar Maybe the navigation buttons along the top could be a bit darker/clearer and I don't see the point of having stats available to the world but that's just me! Front Page Possibly this could have a graphic (chosen at random when the page loads) that advertises and links through to one of your other packages. If you want to stick to the fixed content on OvnPro and ImgMaster then I would think a link from the descriptive paragraph/title would help. Hope this helps. Now I am having difficulty in changing margins using Page guidelines. I set up the margins required in 3 different document and then merged them into one by using the copy and paste chapters facility. The margins when printed were not correct and I tried to change them by using Edit master pages and Page guidelines. Chapter 1 had my settings but chapter 2 and 3 did not and what is more did not agree with the display. In chapter 2 The Default master frame was unticked which it should have been and the Mirror button was on and all the dimensions were 10mm except header and footer which I was not using. In chapter 3 I wanted to change both the margins and the first page to be printed, it is a 2 page chapter and I wanted to have them facing each other ie. start on the left. First off I had the same display as chapter 2 above and changing the setting to do as I thought was for facing pages created an extra frame in the document I do not know where that had come from:-(( Sorry for the long email and I am not sure I have made myself clear at least it is to me!!
