Printing on a laser printer This document has the same layout as the manual. There should not be any problems when printing to a laser printer, be it as A4 double-sided document or when using the pamphlet printing modus. In the latter case the printing will be scaled down to 71%. Ink Jet and Dot Matrix Printers But when printing to a dot matrix or ink jet printer the bottom margin which cannot be printed is generally larger. This can range from 15 to more than 20 mm. In these cases printing is possible if you set up the paper size in Printers as follows. First check the sizes of the non printable areas of your printer. To do this, find the document "Rulers" on this CD (Others.Hoff.Rulers). Load this document. In printers select or create a paper size where the Top, Bottom, Left and Right margins are set to zero. When printing A4 size With "Rulers" loaded select Print, select Format "Normal" then select then Pri nt setu p. Scale and Aspect should be set at 100. X and Y should be set at 0. Deselect: Fit, Centre, Bleed and Printers marks. Print "Rulers". Write down the size of the non printed areas and use this data to set up a paper size in Printers. The left and right margins should be the same and be the maximum of the two. Now start again using this document but now select Fit and Centre and print only pages 1 and 2. The result should be that both pages are printed including the complete borders around the top and bottom margins. Pamphlet printing For the paper size you must now set the top and bottom margin to the same size as the maximum of the non-printable top and bottom margins. So if 20mm is not printed at the bottom, you must enter a top margin of 20mm as well even if more could be printed at the top. The right and left margins must also have the same value, i.e. the maximum of the two of the Rulers printout. Select the Pamphlet printing format. In the Print setup window Centre and Sideways will be automatically selected. Scale will show 71. You must now select Fit. Scale will then show less than 71. Select Front and print. Put the paper back in the printer and select Back to print the other side. Usually it will be possible to set a larger scale than that shown by fit. This is because the printed material on the pages does not run up to their edges. So you can if you wish deselect fit and enter a larger scale. The advantage of doing this is that pages will be bigger and easier to read. This page is present to check the printing results. When printing on A4 this page should be printed exactly on the reverse side of the print on the 1st page. With Pamphlet printing this page is printed to the left of and on the same side as page 3. The reverse side of this page will be page 1 of this document. This page is needed for Pamphlet test printing. The rear side of this page will have page 4. This page is needed for Pamphlet test printing as well. If all is correct it will appear to the left of and next to page 1 when printing the Front of this document. E )||| Ea?#H Eˀa4( E&a@5d E~Na?
